New disc to feature covers of ‘Last Saskatchewan Pirate’, ‘If I Had A Million Dollars’
National record label Canadian Recordings (Formerly Def Canada)
has announced its intention to release a posthumous album of Tom Connors songs
titled ‘Canadian IV: The Man Comes Around’.
Canadian IV is the eighth release in Connors’ ‘Canadian’ series, with at least two more expected as soon
as Canada’s equivalent to Rick Rubin finishes splicing together words from
unrelated takes to make new songs. New tracks featured on Canadian IV include
stripped-down covers of ‘Last Saskatchewan Pirate’ and ‘If I Had A Million
Dollars’, the latter of which was released as a single late last night on
iTunes following Connors’ memorial service. The album will also feature a cover
of ‘Hurt’ by Nine Inch Nails, along with the Canadian icon’s final original
song, “Sidney the Kidney”. (He ain’t too great/now it’s too late/for the
transplant doctor’s magic/so Sidney waits/for his final fate/and they all say it’s
tragic).
Canadian IV: The Man Comes Around is due out on Canadian
Recordings, March 32nd.
